Manage a configured channel

Open the configuration panel

Run the following command in Discord:

/config autothread

You may optionally pass channel to open the panel directly on that text channel.

To add a new channel, use /config setup instead.

Choose an existing configuration

1. Select a channel that is already configured.
2. Edit thread creation, naming, permissions, and configuration state separately.
3. The filter shows what it accepts, what it rejects, and which settings it supports; every selector is preceded by a short explanation of its effect.

Naming rules

A channel has one to five ordered rules. Auto Threads uses the first rule whose variables are all available: {firstLine}, {urlTitle}, {domain}, {mediaFilename}, {displayName}, and {username}. The first line is the first non-empty line in the message.

The Smart, Author, First line, URL title, and Text then media quick presets install several rules in one action. You can then customize them in the editor.

If no rule produces a name, the author's display name and then username are used as the final fallback.

View the configuration

For an existing configuration, the panel shows the filter, its accepted and rejected messages, its available settings, naming rules, enabled state, rename policy, and automated-message behavior. Controls that have no effect for the selected filter are hidden.

Enable or disable

Disable immediately stops new thread creation but keeps every setting. Enable restores the same configuration. Active channels are currently unlimited by default, with no guarantee that free access will remain unlimited; any future limit will be announced and documented before it takes effect.

Edit

Matching and naming remain independent. You can change the filter without losing the naming rules, edit up to five rules manually, or apply a quick preset. The Media filter also exposes attachment types and URL policy.

If another administrator changes the configuration while your panel is open, Auto Threads rejects the stale action and reloads the current state.

For filters that reject non-matching messages, Preview message displays an ephemeral rendering of the current public rejection notice. Variables such as {user} and {delay} use representative values without posting anything in the channel.

Delete and restore

Deletion requires explicit confirmation. It immediately disables the configuration but keeps its settings for 30 days. During that period, select the channel again and choose Restore.

After 30 days, the configuration is permanently purged and must be recreated.
