Configure a channel
Choose a channel, a creation mode, and the rules that fit your community.
Open the configuration panel
Run the following command in Discord:
/config autothreadRequired permission
You must have the Manage Channels permission.
Choose a channel
- Select the channel to configure.
- Choose a mode.
- Review the options, then confirm.
View the configuration
For an existing configuration, the panel shows its mode, enabled state, rename policy, automated-message behavior, and, when relevant, invalid-message deletion policy.
Enable or disable
Disable immediately stops new thread creation but keeps every setting. Enable restores the same configuration, subject to the active-channel limit.
Edit
Available actions depend on the mode: author-name template, media types, URL policy, title source, renaming, automated messages, and invalid-message deletion.
If another administrator changes the configuration while your panel is open, Auto Threads rejects the stale action and reloads the current state.
Delete and restore
Deletion requires explicit confirmation. It immediately disables the configuration but keeps its settings for 30 days. During that period, select the channel again and choose Restore.
After 30 days, the configuration is permanently purged and must be recreated.
